New York
2001/April I went to Salsa Museum first time. It is like souvenir
shop in Puerto Rico and the museum is
back of the shop. On 4/28, I went to see the Latin Madness which
Nelson Flores produces. It's like salsa musical.
It represents salsa history by dancing with stand-up comedy between the scene.
It was very high quarity, and I felt
their enthusiazm that make salsa to the Bradway show level insted of just dancing
at the night club. Actually,
all performers are the best dancers in NY-NJ area and I felt they can go to
the world tour with this show.
Rey Sepulveda played the club singer. And Nelson and Steve Seda did coro and
they did very good job.
The last scene of the first set, Nelson put on my MamboMachine T-shirt. I feel
very sorry that I could not take
pictures. The show was about 2 hours with intermission and I felt the new direction
and the new era of salsa.
I met Frankie Martinez( former dancer of Eddie Torres Company)this time. He
is the very good dancer of the new
generation. He has the secure technique of New York style with the Rumba tradition
flavor.See his web site.
Eddie Torres had health problems but it seems he has recovered. He danced a
lot in his class.
